…number 75 as predicted by NYR on this site. This was actually a question I received a lot since the signing.
K-Rod has chosen to wear #75. Obviously he was not going to get #57 because it is worn by fellow Mets pitcher, Johan Santana.
There is an interesting article on Mets.com about this history of some of the numbers previous Mets players have worn and what some numbers mean.
This was also on the site and I thought it was great.
“75 backwards is 57. [Obviously!] They could be the perfect bookend numbers around Citi Field in 2009. It was just a year ago that the Mets acquired the player widely considered the best starting pitcher in baseball. Now they have paired him with the dominant closer in the game. If you’re thinking combo, you might as well make sure you have a Johan Santana jersey in your closet, too.”
Are you excited yet?
