Phillies Make Agreement With Park

The Korea Times is reporting the Philadelphia Phillies and Chan Ho Park have now agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with performance bonuses that can push it to $5 million.

It is pending him passing a physical. He could be among the starters.

Park was quoted by The Times as saying, “I was a little worried about the Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Phillies, which is hitter-friendly. But as they considered me a starter, I signed with Philadelphia.”

He has every reason in the world to worry. Players are going to light him up like a Christmas tree.

The best quote of the day: “I selected Philadelphia because they are the World Series champions and have high expectations for a playoff berth next season.” -Chan Ho Park

Ha! They better lower those expectations now that they have Park and the Mets have K-Rod and JJ Putz.

He signed with the Philthies to be a starter. Why do I get the feeling he won’t be a starter there for long? If they could take Brett Myers out of the rotation in 2007, the leash on Park will be much shorter.
