A Stupid Decision

John Smoltz has abandoned the Atlanta Braves to go with the Boston Red Sox.

A man who is about as old as the Mets organization is going to go up against Brad Penny for a starting role. HA!

Did they forget about the major shoulder surgery he is recovering from and at his age? He is not even set to pitch until June 1.

The Braves did not bring him back for a reason people.

Well I’m sure you want to know $$$. It’s only worth $5.5 million, but with incentives, it can become worth $10 million.

Yes, it is for only one year. I guess they weren’t that stupid.

Once Smoltz is ready to pitch, the Sox could have six starting pitchers (Beckett, Matsuzaka, Lester, Wakefield, Penny, Smoltz) so signing Smoltz could help them down the road in the event Beckett’s blisters act up again or if they need to put Wakefield in the bullpen. Then again, it is the Red Sox. Have money, will spend.

Lets see The Redsox have signed Smoltz, Penny, Baldelli & today Saito… they will either win the AL East by 20 games & meet our Mets in the WS or they will league the AL in most days spent on the DL!!
