Enough is enough! Sign or walk! Make up your mind.
Apparently, according to the radio station WEEI, the Boston Red Sox have made and offer to their catcher Jason Varitek. Attached to that offer is a deadline, though no date is known as of yet.
The Red Sox offered him a one-year deal for $5 million with a club option for a second year worth an additional $5 million or a player option for $3 million.
Does that make any sense?
In any event, the clock has now begun to tick.
Indications are Varitek will walk away because he wants what he would have gotten through arbitration, $10 million per year, as reported by Buster Olney of ESPN. Boston will not commit that much money to him.
Oh Scott Boras. What a tangled web ye has weaved! Your clients are going to hate you. You have screwed up royally during this off season.
