Castillo? Lead off? LMAO!

By / February 14, 2009 / Spring Training

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there once was a great lead-off hitter. His name was Luis Castillo.

Welcome to 2009! He is now the oft-injured lead-off man. He couldn’t get a lead in the play, “The Little Mermaid”.

But now Jerry Manuel decided that he would like to try Castillo in the lead-off spot. When I read this in the Daily News, I almost fell out of my chair.

It is sheer lunacy. What is Jerry Manuel thinking? He better thank his lucky stars this is Spring Training. As far as I am concerned, Luis Castillo hasn’t even earned playing time.

I want to see Castillo prove himself in Spring Training. I give nobody the benefit of the doubt until they prove their worth. Castillo has not done that.

He has until the end of Spring Training. john_wayneLuis Castillo, I’ma calling you out.

Did I mention Jose Reyes will be batting in the third spot? If you’re wondering who will be number two, that would Carlos Beltran.

I’m not even commenting on this one. My silence should convey my feelings on this lunacy…I mean, topic.

It isn’t like I do not want the guy to succeed. I do! I’m not one of those that “boo” him at a game. But he’s had more than enough time to do something.

At least it is only Spring Training and Manuel is not trying to do this during the regular season.
