Cosmic Pudge!

By / March 16, 2009 / Spring Training

Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez has been drawing significant interest from ballclubs thanks to the WBC.

The Houston Astros, who was among the clubs, has agreed to a one-year deal with Pudge pending a physical. This was expressed by Pudge to ESPN.

The deal is for $1.5 million, plus $1.5 million in incentives.

I guess if Omar Minaya really wanted him, he moved a little too slow.

I was not sure if I wanted him on the Mets. I kept questioning his durability over an entire season. He would not have been happy as a backup catcher to Brian Schneider either.

Better to keep the drama out of the clubhouse.

Cosmic Pudge! I love it! For some reason, I read that and envisioned him wearing a cape and teaming around with Green Lantern in space battling the Flying Zambrano and Planet Pujols.

I’m glad he got the deal. He’s been showing in the WBC that when he’s healthy, he can still be productive. I wonder if Pedro is now saying, “hey, I’m over here! I did well in the WBC, too!”

Comsic pudge is really a cool title for blog i will say..good job Tanya ! I think going to Houston will be good for Pudge. He did play all those years with Texas so he knows what to expect from the media over there. He won’t have any pressure in Houston..now if he were a Met..yeah i think he would have more pressure here in NY from the media and fans. Good luck in Houston Pudge..just not when you play the Mets. Oh and you did us Puerto ricans proud with your play in the WBC.
