Aw! Poor little Colbert Hamels. He’s hurt, yet again. This time it is a sprained ankle.
Oh my heart is breaking for the little lad!
While he does not believe in jinxes and the like, you have to wonder.
He made this statement on MLB.com about it after the Philadelphia Phillies game against the Washington Nationals:
“I’d probably be on the disabled list with a surgery procedure if somebody hated me that bad.
“Why would they toy around with me?“
He’s kidding right? Every Mets fan hates him.
Ever since he made the proclamation about the Mets being choke artists on WFAN of all radio stations, he has been getting hurt consistently.
Staying healthy has actually been a problem for him up until last year.
Yet so far, 2009 just has not been his season. He has started out rather, well, un-MVP like. So sad!
Shane Victornio is in a panic about it:
“Of course you panic,” center fielder Shane Victorino said. “He’s our … No. 1.“
Not very confident in your other pitchers are ya Vicky?
From the inflammation in his elbow back in March to his getting drilled in the left shoulder by a Prince Fielder line drive (OUCH!), this man just has not had any luck.
He’s give up a total of 14 earned runs, in only 13 innings. The ERA for this World Series MVP is a big fat 9.69. Our guys have better numbers.
I doubt you will find a single Mets fan who will be shedding a tear for this clown.
So there you have it folks. He is down again. He is not on the DL. Colbert is hoping to make his next start by Monday.
Speaking from experience of dealing with a sprained ankle, it is possible. But the Phillies may not want to take a chance on their “Ace”.
