J.J. Putz is heading back to New York to receive and MRI.
He may require surgery on his elbow to remove the bone spur that has been pestering him. It was a reason he missed a couple of games last month and received cortisone shots for.

The Mets can also bring up Nelson Figueroa. The way Tim Redding has been pitching lately, I would rather see him in the bullpen and Figueroa in the rotation.
