With all of the bad publicity Tony Bernazard is getting, it is only a matter of time before he his kicked out on his tuckus. I am loving every minute of it.
It was a typical morning for me. No alarms! Just sound asleep. I woke up 11:45am and as I always do, turned on the cellphone to check for messages (text and voicemail), emails, tweets and thensome. To my not-so-surprise, I got three text messages about Phony Bernie acting up.
I rejoiced! Not even the Wilpons can be stupid enough to keep this Phony on the payroll any longer.
If you have not heard the story, or stories I should say, you can head over for three pages worth on the New York Daily News website.
Apparently, Phony Bernie went to have a chat with the Binghamton Mets. According to sources, it was more than just a chat. It was more like a tirade gone bad. It seems he ripped off his shirt and challenged the B-Mets to a fight using explitives to make his points.
Now, as much as I think Bernie has about as much class as a Phillies fan on crack, I do not think he would rip off his shirt. I do see him cursing out the team. After all, they are making Uncle Bernie look bad since they are in last place at the moment. The B-Mets are looking more like their big league club by the day.
Another reason for the outburst that is being talked about is the underage drinking. That happens everywhere. Try all you want, it will not stop.
Did I mention that he is being talked about all around baseball? Well after seeing what he did at his deputy in front of scouts, you can imagine that he would be. Here’s what happened:
During a game at Citi Field, scouts took their customary seats in a row behind home plate. Bernazard showed up during play and wanted a seat occupied by a D-Backs scout. Bernazard’s deputy, already seated in the row, suggested to the Mets VP that he wait until the half-inning ended, to minimize the disruption. Bernazard ripped into his deputy with a profanity-laced tirade as scouts and patrons watched in disbelief.
Aren’t there fines for that? Can he be suspended? He’s supposed to be a Mets executive?
No wonder the front office is in such disarray. At this point the Wilpons have no choice but to fire him. There is no reason to keep him on board unless they want to make themselves look like bigger jack-asses than they already have.
I have tried since the offseason to defend the Wilpons. I excused them for not bringing in a big bat because I understand they are tight thanks to the Madoff scandal. I even looked the other way when Citi Field looked anything like the home of the New York Mets. I figured they needed more time.
The defense stops here. I have been calling for the job of Tony Bernazard for two years. He has been involved in every stupid move the Mets have made over that span. If the Wilpons do not fire him, I will say right now, I will no longer go to Mets games until they do. I will not give my hard-earned money to an organization that has no concept of what baseball is supposed to look like.
I am tired of rooting for a team that is the joke of baseball. Bernazard has done nothing to help this organization. He is a one man wrecking crew that needs to be stopped. One way or the other he will be stopped. If the Wilpons will not do it, it is high time the Mets fans did.
Mets fans never have a problem with voicing their opinions. It is about time Mets fans actually took some action. Talk is cheap. You want changes? Than you better put your money where your mouth is. The only way to get your point across is to hit them where it hurts, and that is in their pockets.
Of course you will not do it. You will keep shelling out hundreds on merchandise, tickets and food.
Mets fans want to watch baseball. Citi Field is cheaper than Yankee Stadium. So you’ll keep going while the Wilpons and Bernazard will keep laughing.
DEAD OR ALIVE
Preferably? Dead to the Mets!
