Presser Turns Into Circus

By / July 27, 2009 / Media, Press Conferences

The press conference was going well until GM Omar Minaya threw an accusation towards Adam Rubin.

Let’s get the conference done first. I’m still reeling from it. So much happened. I think you are more interested in the Rubin accusation.

Minaya confirmed the firing of Tony Bernazard. It was interesting that before the reports by Rubin, there was already an investigation going on regarding Bernazard because people had already filed complaints against him. The reports just expedited the process.

The investigation was conducted by the Human Resources department. No details about the reports were shared. Minaya did not want to get into it. However, he did mention that he was surprised by some things in that was in the reports.

There were things that Minaya never knew about. Minaya did say he takes full responsibility for what happened with Bernazard because he admitted he should know about everything that is going on.

With that said, he also said that some of the allegations did not happen exactly as reported.

Upon receiving the reports he showed to them to Bernazard and then proceeded to tell ownership he had to go. Minaya called Bernazard and said he was fired due to interpersonal relations within the minors and personnel.

The position will be filled from within the organization. Minaya was satisfied with the investigation.

So there you have it. More coming up.
