Figueroa Comes Home

By / August 2, 2009 / Uncategorized

The Mets have finally done the right thing and brought up Nelson Figueroa. He will be pitching in tomorrow’s game against the Arizona D’backs.

This man should have been here months ago in place of Tim Redding. Pokey had no business being in the Mets rotation. Too many chances were granted to him.

Think of the wins the Mets would have had if Figueroa were here sooner. Then again, the offense would have needed to hit as well and we all know how that went.

The Mets made the call because Redding had pitched in relief on Saturday. Figueroa has been nothing short of fantastic in Triple-A going 7-1 in his last 10 starts. His ERA is 1.51.

He’s going to need to pitch as well as he has at Triple-A Buffalo. If Jon Garland can shut us down, imagine what Dan Haren can do!

I’m glad Nelson is finally here. He’s a good pitcher and a better person. Growing up in Coney Island i was friends with Nelson and we played baseball around my block or at Keiser Park. Good times indeed. Seeing Nelson in that Mets uniform makes me proud of Nelson and i hope he’s here to stay.

It’s only one start and it was a bad one at that but lets calm down please.
