The Wright Thing

By / August 16, 2009 / Injuries

It was announced today after the Mets game by GM Omar Minaya the decision to place David Wright on the 15-day disabled list.

I think this is a smart move. They are not playing games and want to be very cautious with their star third baseman.

Obviously, Wright wanted to play. This just tells you how little attention a manager should give a player when discussing injuries. You do not go by the player, but by what the doctors say.

At the same time, I’ll give Wright credit for wanting to go out and deal with it. I’m sure he understands that he can do more damage than good.

He can jeopardize his career. Nobody wants that. Wright needs to be smart. This season is dead. Get better for next year. That’s what matters!
