According to Mets Blog, David Wright is on the field today taking ground balls during batting practice.
He is expected to join the Mets in Denver to face the Colorado Rockies. Wright is eligible to come back on September 1.
Oh and do you remember a pitcher we had in the bullpen who went by the name of J.J. Putz? He was the second closer on the team. The set-up man to Francisco Rodriguez.
Yeah, that guy. He’s hoping to come back to the Mets in Denver as well.
Putz had surgery on his right elbow to remove a bone spur and bone fragments back in June.
He has rehab assignments this Tuesday in Class A Brooklyn and then Double-A Binghamton. Expect his return in the first week of September as well.
In the meantime, Jerry Manuel has every intention to keep using Billy Wagner unless told otherwise. Especially against the Phillies.
