Reyes Set For Surgery

By / October 5, 2009 / Injuries

Jose Reyes is set to have surgery on his right hamstring tendon. No date has been set. There will not be a surgery for torn muscle. It is to remove “scar tissue around the accessory hamstring tendon”, as mentioned on Mets.com.

This tendon is normally taken out and used to replace a torn ligament in the elbow during Tommy John surgery.

I just do not see why they did not do this right away. The sooner they had done this, the sooner Reyes will be set to come back next year. Whatever! Better late than never, I guess.

They’re the Mets, so of course it would take them as long as it did to get him to undergo surgery.

I think people are being just a little to rough on Reyes. I think he tried his best to come back, but we’re talking about his legs here. His whole game is his legs. Speed ! Speed ! Speed ! If he does not have his legs..his Speed ! He’s useless. Don’t forget his history of injuries to his legs during his first few years in the league. I’d say in his mind he’s afraid of a career ending injury. Who can blame him? I’m giving Reyes a chance to prove many people wrong. I’ll give him a chance period !

This coming from the man who would not mind it if he was shipped out. You were one of the ones calling for him to be traded after the All-Star break Joey, especially after his last setback.

No the only way i’d condsider trading Reyes is if the trade was made with Boston. Ellsbury and Buchholz would be the players i’d want in return. A young OF and Power Pitcher ! Yeah i would think that one over. But trading Reyes would not be the best of ideas. I’D KEEP HIM !
