Did you get your issue of Sports Illlustrated yet? Did you see who is on the cover? Well, it appears the curse of Sports Illustrated is commencing for the Philadelphia Phillies.
It seems the New York Mets are not the only ones hurting at the moment. For all of the Mets fans talking about how the Mets are the only ones suffering, take it and choke on it.
The Phillies are now going to be starting the season without three pitchers, Joe Blanton, closer Brad Lidge, and J.C. Romero. They are all on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique and the last two coming off of having off-seasoon surgeries.
The ironic, eerie, whatever you want to call it thing is that, according to ESPN.com, Blanton has not been on the DL in six seasons. The team doctor is saying at the earliest, he can come back by the third week of April. At worst, end of May.
How sweet it is! I think Sports Illustrated owed Mets fans after what they did to us last year. Don’t you?
