Injuries Update

By / April 20, 2010 / 2010 Season, Injuries

I can’t believe I am doing an injury update. Seriously? It’s back to this?

First up: Carlos Beltran.

Beltran is still not cleared for baseball activities. He was told by doctors just to stay with the rehab program for now. He is not expected to return until June or later. However, he is making progress. It is just very slow.

I had made the statement it was stupid for Beltran to have the surgery so late into the offseason. I said it was stupid for him to come back at all last season, although I did applaud him for working so hard to. At the same time, this surgery was discussed while he was on the disabled list. That was the time it should have happened. No we are without him for who knows how long.

So I am a little more upset than usual. Oh well!

Lastly: Ryota Igarashi

Tonight’s game does not come without a loss. He left tonight’s game with a strained left hamstring. He will be getting an MRI tomorrow. So we’ll see what happens with him when we get the results. He could be day-to-day or headed to the DL.

I’m not as worried as last year, The Mets have better depth in the Minors and should be ok. I only hope Beltran is back sooner rather than later. I looks like June or July for Beltran return.
