All Good Things…

By / May 9, 2010 / 2010 Season

Well, you knew at some point the streak would end. It has. It is okay. Mets fans you can breathe. The season is not over.

I do have to say that my highlight of this game was seeing David Wright have a fit with the home plate umpire to get thrown out. That was a thing of beauty. Some of you had a fit yourselves. Wright did the right thing. He had to argue that call because it was a crap call.

Look, Wright is not doing the best that he could. Despite there were no more bench players, you let Wright vent. It was not the best timing, but at least he showed he has some spunk.

I am so tired of his Jeter-like persona. You are a member of the New York Mets. They are the blue-collar team of New York baseball. Stop with the sophistication. Save it for your fundraisers. On the field, you fight and show some attitude. With all of the time that he has been in NYC, you would think he would have some already.

So while others think he was out of line, I applaud him for finally arguing and standing up for himself. I would have done the same thing. Well, anyone who knows me probably would have expected me to keep arguing until hell froze over or until the ump saw it my way.

Be happy with the past two games. The Mets came back on two games thanks to their unsung heroes otherwise known as their catchers. Since Mike Piazza, the Mets have never really had a catcher they believed in. Not even Omir Santos. When we see our catchers come to the plate, we get excited.

This team is an exciting team. Mets fans, get excited. This is not your 2007, 2008, 2009 Mets. These are the 2010 loosey-goosey-do-not-toy-with-me-because-you-will-feel-our-wrath New York Mets. How can you not be amped up to see this team? I am pissed beyond all belief that I have finals coming up and I cannot go to see my New York Mets. At this rate, I will cut class (I do not condone this lol) to go see my Mets.

Mets fans, this is a great team. They have fight. They have swagger. They have attitude. This team is everything that this writer said they would be. The theme for this season is “Let’s Start The Fight ‘Cuz Its Ride or Die!” This is what this team is. It is their very heart and soul.

Bring on the Gnats! Let’s swat them and send them back to the cellar where they belong. Believe in this team Mets fans! They believe in themselves.

I have to say I loved seeing David show some fight. I would really love to see him start doing better at the plate and as the season goes on I think he will. So they lost 1 game to SF and ended their home winning streak, at least they took the series, they’ve been playing good baseball and aren’t cellar dwellers, Mets fans should be happy about that. I know I am.
