Injury Updates and Other News

Well the Mets have announced Luis Castillo is on the disabled list with a bruised heel. We all knew it was only a matter of time. So they have brought up Ruben Tejada.

Mets fans also seemed to have gotten their wish. Say farewell to Gary Matthews, Jr. The Mets have designated him for assignment. If the Mets really want to instill some faith in their fans about the organization, they need to release Oliver Perez.

So the Mets have brought up catcher Omir Santos to take Matthews’ place. On the roster, not the position. It seems Henry Blanco is a little banged up and received a cortisone shot. He’ll be out for a few days. Adam Rubin reports the Santos just snapped an 0-20 streak. How wonderful! Geez!

Supposedly the Mets are going to be bringing up outfielder Jesus Feliciano because Omar Minaya promised to do so. This is according Feliciano’s agent. Never make a promise you cannot keep. Who knows if this will happen. Let’s hope it does. The kid is tearing it up in the minors. Here are his current numbers: .381/.429/.476

Carlos Beltran is still rehabbing in PSL. He is playing the role of the DH right now. He went 2-6 in today’s game. Getting excited yet? You never can when Mets players are rehabbing. Beltran is still not running hard along the base paths.

I would rather have Thole in the majors. He’s the future catcher. Santos is not. Too bad Thole got hit in the head with a backswing on Wednesday.
