One More Pitcher For The Road

By / January 21, 2011 / 2010 Offseason

The Mets have picked up RHP Blaine Boyer from the stockpile of relievers. It seems the Mets just keep signing them. It is a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.

At 29 years old, he was non-tendered by the Arizona Diamondbacks after posting a 4.26 ERA in 54 appearances and 29 K’s and BB’s. He has also pitched for the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals. His career numbers are 4.63 ERA, 93BB’s and 161 K’s. In his six year career he has only given up only 15 home runs in 228 games.

Seems the Mets are making sure they have enough pitchers. I guess with their track record, you can never have enough.

I wouldn’t put it past GM Sandy Alderson to get even more.
