According to Terry Collins, the Mets will have Ruben Tejada focusing on playing shortstop during Spring Training and down in Triple-A, where he is most likely going to start the season.
It makes sense. The Mets have been having Tejada play second base the past couple of years. Now things have changed because they have Daniel Murphy who has been focusing on second base. While Jose Reyes is probably coming back in 2012, it helps to have that backup at shortstop in case of injury.
Maybe while they are at it, they can help him to learn what to do with a baseball bat.
