It was reported that after being told he would no longer be the Mets hitting coach that Howard Johnson would be reassigned within the

HoJo hands in his bat.

organization. According Andy Martino of the NY Daily News, he was offered positions as hitting coach for the Brooklym Cyclones and/or Port St. Lucie.

Johnson has declined and decided to leave the Mets altogether. Dave Hudgens is his replacement as hitting coach with the major league ballclub and Dave Jauss will be the roving hitting instructor down in the minors.

I’m sure players like the David Wright who have a history of working with Johnson are sad to see him leave. We wish him all the best.
