Wright: “Screaming and Sweating and Red In The Face”

By / February 21, 2011 / 2011 Season, Spring Training

Sounds like Terry Collins is making his players work, right? Yes and no. This is about Collins’ his team meeting today. It was described as excitable, loud and red-faced. Have no idea what I am talking about? Well, allow Mets third baseman, David Wright, to explain it to you. He has given my favorite quote ever by himself:

He wins for being probably the most red in the face.

I could not help but laugh that quote. At first I was thinking maybe Collins ripped everyone a new one already. Not at all. If anything, he went from calm and collect to loud and excitable. At least, that is the impression Wright left me with this:

He starts out kind of at a normal voice and it picks up a few decibels, and then a few more. By the end of it he’s yelling and screaming and sweating and red in the face.

Now that is the perfect description for my type of manager.

I’m telling you, the more i read what Collins says and does i’m liking him more and more with each passing day. Only question is will it carry over on the dimond ? My gut feeling ? It sure will.
