If you think things just cannot get any worse, you really should know better by now. It seems the injured were well on their way to rehabilitation. Well, at least one Met will be.
Ike Davis will not be among them since he has regressed rather than progressed like every one believed he had. After running on artificial turf, for the second time, he reported feeling sharp pain. He did receive a cortisone shot which it seems is a last resort. If he continues to feel pain, there is a good chance he will get season-ending surgery.
No shocker there. He will be getting a second opinion while the team is here in New York. Here is Davis had to say on Mets.com:
The biggest thing really is, you miss doing your job. I trained all offseason, I trained hard. I did Spring Training, I got ready. To play a month and a couple weeks is not the goal. It’s a lot of effort to put into something and then get it cut short.
Am I the only one slightly annoyed with David Wright over this?
Jose Reyes could be out for longer than expected according to Mets GM Sandy Alderson. He is eligible to come off the dl on Monday, but it most likely will not happen. They would rather be cautious considering Reyes’ injury track record. With good reason. Reyes has been unbelievable this season. He was everything he was predicted to be when he came up from the majors. Let’s just hope he recovers faster than believed.
Update on who will be the new closer
Terry Collins has decided to go with three guys for the closer’s role for the moment. They will be Pedro Beato, Jason Isringhausen and Bobby Parnell. I like that Isringhausen will have his chances considering he is seven saves shy from the 300 mark. It would be great to see him get it as a New York Met. While Beato has had experience in the minors, I believe Parnell will ultimately get the job since it has been rumored for awhile that he could be groomed as one. I would expect Beato and Isringhausen to be the set-up guys.
The next announcement has not so much to do with the site, but rather with me. I will be making the announcement within the next couple of weeks. I am looking forward to it. For those who have been following me for awhile now, you will be excited and feel it took forever. (Hahaha!)
Prayers for a Mets Fan
Finally, our hearts and prayers go out to a great Mets fan, Shannon, on FB who was involved in a car accident. He was hit by a drunk driver while on his way to pick up Mets tickets. He is doing well, but remains in the hospital. People, this drunk driving thing really is not cute. Be smart! If you know someone is drunk or even just buzzed, take their keys from them. Either drive them to where they are doing or call a cab for them. Hell! This is New York. Swipe a metrocard for them and call it a night.
Have a great weekend! LET’S GO METS! Go out on that field and kick some Phillies’ ass!
